Artist in Residency summer workshops program now open in enchanting San Miguel de Allende

The inaugural “San Miguel Literary Sala Artists in Residency” program will take place in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico from June 27 to August 2, 2015. It is being organized by the folks behind the annual San Miguel Writers’ Conference and registration is now open.

Three artists will spend a month in San Miguel. They will be working on
their own projects but also teaching workshops.

Eva Langston
Fiction Writing Instructor
Eva Langston has an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of New Orleans. Her fiction and poetry have appeared in numerous publications including The Normal School, The Sand Hill Review, The George Washington Review, Pif Magazine, and Brevity Magazine. Her work has been included in the CREDO Anthology (2015, forthcoming), Main Street Rag’s Altered States Anthology, and the Witches, Stitches, and Bitches Anthology.
She took third place in the Playboy Fiction Contest in 2010 and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2011. She is the Features Editor of Compose Journal and a regular contributor to both Burlesque Press Variety Show and Carve Magazine. Her personal blog about writing, inthegardenofeva.com, was featured on “Freshly Pressed” in 2014.

David Ramsey
Creative Nonfiction Writing Instructor
David Ramsey's nonfiction writing has been published in The New Republic, The Oxford American, Slate, Men’s Journal, The Week, Hemispheres, The Arkansas Times, and elsewhere – including stories about the world’s best PacMan player, the world’s hottest chicken, and how Lil Wayne helped him through his first year of teaching in New Orleans public schools.
His work has been anthologized in Best American Food Writing, Da Capo Best Music Writing, Cornbread Nation: The Best of Southern Food Writing, and the Norton Field Guide to Writing. He was recently named to the Washington Post’s 2015 list of best state political reporters.

Marico Fayre
Photography & Visual Storytelling Instructor
Marico Fayre has been called a storyteller and visual poet. Based in New York, she has a BFA and MFA in photography and has held a faculty position at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She is also the Creative Director for the INUS Group and a co-founder of a collective that focuses on assisting creative professionals in building sustainable businesses through specialized planning, education, community building, and promotion.
Her work has appeared in Diffusion Magazine, Shots Magazine, Color Magazine, Method Press, 5x5 Magazine, Vogue Italia (online)It is also found in galleries and private collections across North America. 

Workshops will be four weeks long (July 1 to July 30) and limited to twelve participants. Each workshop package ($325 USD) will include a one-hour introductory session, four three-hour sessions (one per week), and an invitation to participants to present their work at the Artists in Residency Gala which will be held at the end of the program.
